Job Description

 

  • Develop detailed conceptual plans, engineering designs, and electrical arrangement drawings for high-voltage substations and related facilities;
  • Provide engineering support throughout procurement, fabrication, and construction phases, ensuring compliance with design standards;
  • Manage and coordinate projects with multidisciplinary engineering teams (electrical, civil, structural, mechanical);
  • Participate in the preparation of estimates, proposals, bids, and construction contract documents;
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff members;
  • Review and approve electrical designs, arrangement drawings, and vendor shop drawings for accuracy and compliance;
  • Prepare, review, and approve technical specifications for construction and installation work;
  • Estimate construction costs (labor and materials) and support budget planning;
  • Conduct site surveys, inspections, and technical investigations to gather data for engineering projects (must comply with PPE and safety requirements);
  • Ensure quality assurance and document control throughout the project lifecycle, supporting compliance and process improvement initiatives;
  • Perform administrative and technical functions in support of engineering activities, including reporting and scheduling;
  • Support compliance with health and safety regulations, including adherence to Ontario Health and Safety Act requirements;
  • Coordinate BIM workflows for electrical arrangement design, ensuring accurate integration of models across disciplines;
  • Manage clash detection and resolve design conflicts using BIM tools;
  • Maintain and update 3D models and ensure alignment with project standards and client requirements;
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to clarify technical requirements and resolve design issues;
  • Stay updated on industry standards, emerging technologies, and best practices in electrical arrangement design.
